Scoliosis is a developmental abnormality of the spinal column that may occur in other wise healthy children during the growing years from ages 10 to 17. The early diagnosis and treatment of scoliosis is important.
The fact sheet attached below presents an explanation of scoliosis and an at-home screening methodology for parents. ![]() Head Lice - S.C.R.A.T.C.HEach year, approximately 6 to 12 million children between 3 and 12 years of age are infested with head lice. Because head lice infestations are a concern to schools nationwide, the NASN has launched a campaign, S.C.R.A.T.C.H. (School and Community Resources to Avoid and Take Control of Head Lice). The program is designed to educate school nurses, parents, students and the general public about the prevention and control of head lice.

A check for $707.22 was presented to the society. Every penny, nickel, dime, quarter and dollar donated helps save a life! ![]() 6th Grade Immunization Requirements 2011-2012A booster dose of Tdap vaccine is required for all children entering the 6th grade, if at least five years have passed since the last dose of tetanus-containing vaccine. The documentation of this immunization from the students health care provider must be on file prior to the start of school in September. Any student who is not eligible to have the tetanus booster due to age or medical condition must provide a letter from the health care provider. ![]() MedicationParents, if your child requires medication during school hours it is important that you complete the REQUIRED over-the-counter medication authorization form (Attachment 1 of Regulation 757-4). This regulation pertains to any substance considered medication, including cough drops and oral numbing agents. Students caught carrying unauthorized medications in school may be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with the PWCS Code of Conduct. This regulation is for the safety and wellness of ALL students at Woodbridge. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call or email the school nurse.
![]() Please Report your Student's IllnessesIt is important that you call to report your child's absence as soon as possible, especially when it is due to illness. Please give basic information regarding your child’s illness when calling, stating if he or she has a fever and if there are any other symptoms of influenza. Please do NOT wait to report their illness until they return to school. Thank you for doing your part to help keep Woodbridge Middle students, families, and staff members healthy! |
